Edmonton : Day Two

If you have any love for me at all, you will never, ever ask me about the bathroom floor and the two Mr. Clean Magic Erasers it took to resuscitate it. I didn’t gag, but at least I’ve put the thought in your mind and you can now effectively simulate the mental state I was in when I was on my hands and knees scrubbing behind the toilet. We shall not speak of this again.

The movers arrived on time at 8 a.m., and did a fantastic job. Thanks again to Doc, Dave and Tony. Give DNC Moving in Courtney, BC a call if you’re moving in western Canada. They also use Minimove.ca as a broker.

It occurred to me by the end of the day that I had not meaningfully bathed since Kelowna, so as the Sun was setting on another glorious September day I took the phone book and my map over to the window to find a Wal-Mart because I had no shower curtain and the bathroom window glass was clear. There was a store right down Stony Plain Road at 184th Street. A ways away but a nearly straight line from where I’m living. At least on the map.

Edmonton : Day One

I have made it to Edmonton in one piece. The drive was uneventful once I crossed into Alberta proper (less congestion of old people with nothing better to do in motor homes). At one point on Highway 93 from Lake Louise to the Saskatchewan River Crossing cutoff I was behind a wagon train of eight rented motor homes driven by amateurs with nowhere meaningful to go. Behind them was me and about a dozen other cars until they pulled over and let us pass after about 15 minutes. The other drivers were pretty pissed, at least some of them seemed to be with their quick acceleration past the 140 km/h mark. Mostly guys in oversized pick-up trucks. That, and BMW drivers.
