Drawing upon vintage book design and the architectural features of this beautiful heritage home, it was easy to develop a package for this children’s activity book.
We went with a 12″ x 12″ book on a heavier, natural-colour paper stock. The illustrator did their job very well, and by complementing the images with appropriate typefaces (Jenson Pro and Edwardian) and a muted colour scheme, we delivered a piece that allowed visitors to take a little piece of the Lougheed House experience home with them.
In addition to the photo reference shot (see top right), I gathered type ornaments and floriated drop caps from a turn-of-the-century encyclopædia. While the overall feeling is vintage, the oversized format allowed for a modern application of white space.
