Strange Adventures No. 144 Cover by Murphy Anderson
Who says DC Comics of the early 1960s were dull and boring? The Atomic Knights wore medieval armour and rode Dalmatians across the post-apocalyptic landscape of 1986. That took some pretty wacky thinking to come up with, whether writer/creator John Broome consumed illicit substances or not.
This September 1962 cover comes from the middle of their initial run in Strange Adventures of Nos. 117–160 (appearing every third issue), and was drawn by the artist/creator of the series, Murphy Anderson.
I have to admit, I would never have sought out an Atomic Knights piece to colour and package, but an online friend suggested it a while back and here it is.
